Crushed Shell Coasters

Materials
Old seashells – approximately 2 cups
Clear casting resin – 16 oz
Hardener (if not included with resin) – follow product instructions
Round silicone coaster molds – set of 4
Measuring cups
Mixing sticks
Protective gloves
Safety goggles
Plastic or paper cups for mixing
Sandpaper (optional for smoothing edges)
Directions
Start by cleaning your seashells to remove any dirt or debris. Allow them to dry completely.
Place the dried shells in a sturdy plastic bag, seal it, and use a hammer to gently crack the shells into small pieces and dust. Aim for a variety of sizes to add texture.
Prepare your workspace by laying down protective covering and wearing gloves and goggles.
Mix the clear casting resin and hardener according to the manufacturer’s instructions in a plastic or paper cup.
Pour a thin layer of the mixed resin into the bottom of each silicone mold.
Sprinkle a layer of crushed shells into each mold, arranging them to your liking. Ensure there are no air bubbles by gently tapping the molds.
Pour another layer of resin over the shells until they are completely submerged.
Allow the resin to cure as directed by the resin manufacturer, usually 24 to 48 hours.
Once fully cured, remove the coasters from the molds. If desired, use sandpaper to smooth the edges.

Variations & Tips
For a personalized touch, consider adding a few drops of blue or teal resin dye to create an oceanic effect. You can also mix in a small amount of glitter for added sparkle. If you prefer a more uniform appearance, try using shells of similar color or size. For a more eclectic look, incorporate different types of small beach findings like tiny starfish or pieces of coral.
