Upcycling home décor items is a creative and sustainable way to freshen up your living space. By transforming a vintage brass wire lampshade frame into a chic plant stand, you can add a unique touch to your home while also contributing to eco-friendly practices. This DIY project is perfect for those who enjoy giving new life to old items and wish to incorporate a trendy, minimalistic element into their décor.
This upcycled plant stand fits seamlessly into a variety of interior styles. For a modern look, place it near geometric furniture or metallic accents. In a rustic setting, complement it with wooden textures and earthy tones. The plant stand can also add a touch of elegance to bohemian interiors, especially when paired with lush greenery and layered textiles. For a cohesive look, consider using similar brass or terracotta elements elsewhere in the room.
Upside-Down Wire Lampshade Plant Stand

Materials
1 vintage brass wire lampshade frame, stripped of fabric
1 medium-sized terracotta pot
Spray paint (optional, for color customization)
Adhesive felt pads (to protect floors)
Directions
Begin by removing any remaining fabric or parts from the vintage brass wire lampshade frame. Ensure the wire frame is clean and free of any debris.
If desired, use spray paint to change the color of the wire frame. Choose a color that matches or contrasts with your existing décor. Allow the paint to fully dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Turn the wire lampshade frame upside down. The wider base will now serve as the support for the terracotta pot.
Place adhesive felt pads on the bottom edges of the wire frame to prevent scratching the floor.
Carefully position the terracotta pot on the inverted frame. Make sure it sits securely within the frame’s structure.
Place your chosen plant inside the terracotta pot, ensuring it has enough space to thrive.

Variations & Tips
For a more personalized touch, consider using different types of wire lampshade frames, such as those with unique shapes or intricate designs. You can also experiment with pots of different materials or colors, like glazed ceramic or painted terracotta, to match your home’s color scheme. If you prefer a taller stand, use a larger wire frame or stack frames of varying sizes. Adding small decorative elements like macrame hangers or LED fairy lights can enhance the aesthetic appeal of your plant stand.
